Royal drums were rolled out on Saturday, 29 May, 2021, as the Nigerian foremost monarch and paramount traditional ruler of the Yoruba nation, His Imperial Majesty Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, Ooni of Ife and co-Chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, honoured top young Nigerians and chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with the Royal African Medal and inducted them into the Royal Court for Outstanding Achievement in Governance & Leadership.
APC young leaders and stalwart honoured at the prestigious award ceremony in Oduduwa Hall, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, included: Hon. Stella Okotete, APC Woman Leader/Executive Director, NEXIM Bank; Bayo Omoboriowo, Chief Photographer to the President; Hon. Kabir Tukura Ibrahim, member of the House of Representatives and Chairman, Young Parliamentarian Forum and Mr. Chris Kohol, businessman, APC chieftain & National President, Young Entrepreneurs of Nigeria (YEN).
Other business awardees at the event included: Mohammed Jega, Founder Arewa Startup; Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, co-Founder, Future Africa; Joshua Ajayi, Founder, Nord Automobiles; Isaac Balami, CEO 7 Star Group; Kayode Johnson, CEO Viaggio Consultancy Limited; Seun Williams, Executive President, ECOWAS Youth Council; Akin Olaoye, Founder, House of Lunettes and Late Tolulope Arotile among others.
According to Ooni of Ife, the awardees are like leopards, as they remain the finest and bravest change makers that the continent is craving for, who have exceptionally contributed to Nigerian nation building.
The theme of this year’s Royal African Young Leadership Forum Award was, “Africa of the Future: Unlocking the Hidden Treasures of the Continent”.
The event was graced by the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II; Mr. Sunday Dare, Minister of Youth & Sports Development; traditional rulers amongst other top dignitaries.
