The Chairman of Oriade Local Council Development Area of Lagos, Hon Ramotalai Akinola-Hassan has assured residents of the council that her administration will provide improved and better services in all sectors in 2022.
The council chairman gave the assurance on Wednesday, 29 December, 2021 at the council secretariat during the presentation of the brand new mini bus won by Oriade LCDA to her, as the prize for emerging the 2021 Cleanest Local Council in Lagos State, among sub-Urban councils.
The award was given to Oriade LCDA, on Friday, 24 December,2021, by the state Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources at the award ceremony held in Alausa, Ikeja.
The council also received the second runners-up Award for the Cleanest Primary Health Care Center.
The council was honoured with the two awards on Environment and Primary Health Care Service in recognition of its contribution to sustainable environment in Lagos State.
Hon Akinola-Hassan, while receiving the keys to the mini bus and award plaques from the Council Manager, Engr Akitoye Babatunde Semiu, expressed her happiness and satisfaction for the historic honour bestowed on the council, adding that this is the first time such recognition would be given to Oriade LCDA since its creation 18 years ago.
She stated further that the honour is historic because it was achieved during her administration’s lifetime.
Hon Akinola-Hassan disclosed that Oriade LCDA also received a cash prize of N500,000 for emerging the 9th Best Local Council in Agriculture and Community Development out of the 57 Councils in Lagos State, at the just concluded Year 2021 Community Day Celebration, organised by the state Ministry of Agriculture and Community Development.
The council chairman submitted that the monumental success recorded by her administration in 2021 would not have been achieved without the support and cooperation of management, staff and the people of Oriade LCDA.
She expressed her appreciation to the management and staff of the council for their cooperation, loyalty and dedication to duties, and residents alike for being law abiding and good tax payers.
She disclosed that the multiple awards would serve as motivation for her to double her efforts in the quest to move the council forward.
Hon Akinola-Hassan urged the council management and staff not to relent on their efforts in the new year and also appealed to residents of the council to continue to cooperate with government at all levels.
