The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin, has disclosed that the 9th Assembly in the state passed 97 bills into law in four years.
Ogundoyin, who made this disclosure while speaking during the valedictory session of the House held on Thursday, 8 June, 2023 in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, added that a total of 109 bills were considered by the 9th Oyo State House of Assembly in the last four years.
The Speaker added that 97 of the bills were passed into law, just as he also that the 9th Assembly passed eight outstanding bills into law.
Ogundoyin added further that the bills were passed into law in order to address critical areas in the state.
“For record, 109 bills were considered and 97 bills were passed, with eight outstanding. These bills are to address critical sectors and issues such as agriculture and food security, economy, education, healthcare, ease of doing business, youth empowerment, social inclusion and protection, domestic resource flow and infrastructure.
“For instance, the 7th Assembly in Oyo State holds the record for the highest number of bills passed, which were 70 with 23 outstanding.
“Close to this record was the 8th Assembly, which passed 68 bills with 16 outstanding. But now we remain the best and first in the annals of the legislature in Oyo State,” the speaker said.
