My attention has been drawn to a malicious video currently circulating on various social media platforms particularly on Facebook and Whatsapp, spreading spurious, puerile, malicious and pernicious falsehoods against my person.
Ordinarily, as a serious minded legislator and public administrator whose focal concern is active contribution to National Development, Economic Growth and Democratic Improvement, I would have ignored the video for what it is: a mischievous attempt by a social misfit who is either acting alone or being goaded by collaborators to discredit my image without just cause.
However, since the circulation of the video, my supporters, well-wishers and constituents who know the value of the contributions I have made in the business of law making have expressed concerns, anger and disgust at the video and are agitating that proper action be taken. It is also important not to allow false allegations assume the toga or fact as that will be a disservice to my constituents who voted me to office and whom I dutifully represent.
I have therefore resolved to issue this statement for two major purposes to wit: keeping the records straight and calming my constituents’ frayed nerves.
To be sure the allegations made by the misfit who goes by the name of Seun Awolesi in the video are not just false but maliciously so. My records as a Lawmaker are in the public domain for any discerning mind to see.
The puerile allegations that I have insulted one of the leaders in Lagos Mainland politics; Baba Alao a.k.a.Anisere cannot only be false but a disingenuous attempt to create unnecessary division and is hereby denied in totality.
In a display of his utter ignorance, the said Seun Awolesi alleged that I have not provided palliatives for my constituents during the Covid19 pandemic. Let me state for the record that apart from interfacing with the relevant agencies to take care of the interest of my constituents, I, as a law abiding citizen cannot flout the presidential regulation of Lockdown and social distancing in Lagos State.
I therefore urge my teeming supporters to ignore the ignoble rant of the social misfit. I also strongly implore my supporters to refrain from taking laws into their hands, to be law abiding citizens as they have always been and to be rest assured that I shall not rest my oars in continuing to push the issues affecting Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency on the front burner and the overall development of Nigeria while I take steps to protect my image under the law.
While it is my earnest hope and prayers that we survive and come out of the current pandemic that has held the world firmly in its grip stronger as a nation, I advise that you all comply with government directives on social distancing and personal hygiene to stay safe.
I also urge you to ignore the attempt of mischief makers to cause disaffection in order to disrupt the peace, unity and developmental gains that Lagos Mainland has enjoyed over the years.
Let me also assure all the stakeholders in Lagos politics, party leaders, colleagues and associates that we shall remain a compact unit towards achieving the common goal of developing Lagos State.
The Merciful God is there for us.
