Few days after he failed to win Euro 2024 in Germany, Gareth Southgate has resigned from his role as manager of the England national team.
Recall that the Three Lions lost 2-1 against Spain in the final on the night of Sunday ,14 July, 2024.
“As a proud Englishman, it has been the honour of my life to play for England and to manage England,” Southgate said on Tuesday, 16 July, 2024 after announcing his decision to quit the Three Lions.
“It has meant everything to me, and I have given it my all.But it’s time for change, and for a new chapter. I’m leaving my role,” Southgate, who lost the crucial penalty when England lost to Germany in the 1996 Euro Semi Final shootout, said.
