AfroBasket champion, Oderah Chidom has announced resignation from the Nigeria Women’s basketball team D’Tigress, thegazellenews.com reports.
The 28-year-old explained that a “lack of professionalism” from the Nigeria Basketball Federation as the reason for her action.
Chidom, who made the announcement via her Twitter handle on Monday, 10 July, 2023, expressed his sadness that she will no longer play for the national team again.
“It saddens me to announce that I will no longer play for the Nigerian National Team.”
In a video attached to her tweet, Chidom said, “Of course, I will love to continue to play for something that is bigger than myself and represent the country that means so much to me and my family.
“But the current [Nigeria Basketball] Federation, I just cannot continue to agree with the way they do business,” she wrote.
Thegazellenews.com recalls that already-qualified Nigeria women’s basketball team, D’Tigress were ejected from the 2022 FIBA Women’s World Cup after the Federal Government slammed a two-year ban on all national basketball teams from participating in international competitions over leadership crisis in the Nigeria Basketball Federation.
