Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has vowed that he and his political allies will never sit down to negotiate with the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, before the general elections slated for next week.
Wike made vow during a media chat held in Port Harcourt on Thursday, 16 February, 2023. He added that the timeframe for resolving the grievance of the G5 is “over” and he is “not ready to sit down with anybody again”.
“No, we can’t do that; it’s over! We have said it and there is nothing anybody can do about it now. They believe they can win the election. I am not ready to sit down with anybody again,” the Governor said in response to a question.
A group of five governors known as the G5, led by Wike is against the presidential bid of Atiku.
His allies are: Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu.
The aggrieved PDP Governors had pulled out of the campaign of Atiku, giving the resignation of Senator Iyioricha Ayu as National Chairman as condition for them to return.
But the PDP carried on its campaign without their impute, inaugurating a presidential campaign council in Oyo, without the involvement of Makinde.
