The Chairman of the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC), Dr. Ekong Edet Boco, has disclosed that at least 10,517 persons have been deployed for the local government and ward elections scheduled to hold on Saturday, 2 November , 2024.
Boko, who made this disclosure while briefing newsmen at his office in Calabar, the state capital, also disclosed that 9,843 ad-hoc staff have been trained, with three of these staff members assigned to each of the 3,281 INEC-recognized polling units across the 18 LGAs of the state.
Aside this, CROSIEC boss also added that 460 supervisors, 18 returning officers, and 196 collation officers were trained and will be involved in the elections, just as he also debunked rumours that the election results had already been predetermined.
“These are the blank result sheets and other documents to be used during the exercise. It is not true that the results of the elections have been written already before the elections,” he stressed.
He disclosed that all ad hoc workers have subscribed to oaths of allegiance and secrecy.
“We hope that all officials assigned to the elections will conduct themselves well. We will not tolerate any misdemeanors from officials.”
In the presence of IPAC officials, security personnel, and journalists, he distributed sensitive electoral materials for the council elections.
