His name might be new on the list of prospective commissioners for Lagos State, but Dr. Adekunle Olayinka cannot be described as new. He has definitely been involved in governance albeit behind the scene, reports thegazellenews.com
Dr. Olayinka who parades intimidating profile is not new to political appointments and contributing positively to governance at all levels. He was Special Adviser, Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (South West Affairs) to Governor Sanwoolu in his last administration and Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters to his predecessor, Akinwunmi Ambode.
He was Member, APC Technical Committee on 2023 Elections: Re-election of Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu as well as Director, Volunteers and Support Groups in the Presidential, Governorship and other Candidates Campaign Council for the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress.
He was also Chairman, APC Lagos State Congress Planning/Support Committee, 2021
and a member of the National APC Registration/Revalidation Committee for Osun State among other high profile party, state and national assignments.
Before returning to Nigeria, Dr Olayinka was the former National Secretary of the Action Congress and Action Congress of Nigeria for Southern Africa.
In all of these party, state and national assignments, Olayinka has always delivered and excelled. Seeing his name on the list was, therefore not a surprise to many who are aware of his intimidating antecedents, in fact, many believed it was overdue.
A consumate academic, a professional and qualified egineer, Olayinka recently acquired a doctorate degree in Public Administration from the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo. He had put in over two decades of post-qualification as a Project Management expert.
Olayinka was born on 10 March, 1973 to the family of Olayinka with his maternal roots from the Zannu Family, Ikoga Zebbe in Badagry, Lagos State.
He attended Abeokuta Grammar School, Abeokuta for his secondary education; Yaba College of Technology where he obtained Higher National Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering; Federal University of Technology, Akure where he obtained a post-Graduate Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
Outside Nigeria, he had studied in United Kingdom, South Africa and Singapore.
Olayinka also has cognate corporate work experience which garnered over the years from his sojourn with telecommunications giants, MTN which cuts across Nigeria, South Africa, the Eastern part of Africa and Asia.
He is the CEO and Founder of Kunle Olayinka Peace Initiative “KOPI” and was an aspirant for the House of Representatives ticket for Ifako Ijaye Federal Constituency in the last election. He is also the founder, Irorun Ilu, a group where he mentors youths and carries out his philanthropic activities.
