Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has denied reports that he is dumping the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
El-Rufai said this in reaction to speculation on the social media that he has joined the main opposition party ahead of the 2027 general election.
El-Rufai, who asked the public to disregard the rumour and lies about his political affiliation also said he has referred the peddlers of the fake news to his lawyers for further action.
Posting on X, the former Governor wrote: “Please disregard the patent lies and rumours about my political affiliation. I have referred the lead peddlers of the fake news for further action by my lawyers.”
El-Rufai served under the PDP administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo as the Director General of Bureau of Public Enterprises(BPE) and the Minister of Federal Capital Territory.
However, he joined to establish the APC and was elected governor of Kaduna State for two terms on the platform of the party.
President Bola Tinubu nominated El-Rufai for appointment as a minister into his cabinet, but senate rejected the speculation.
However, the speculations that the former Kaduna governor has joined the PDP followed recent tweets deemed to be critical of Tinubu administration on his from his X handle.
