In continuation of his engagement with strategic stakeholders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Lagos Central Senatorial District, Rt. Hon. Wasiu Eshilokun Sanni (WES), took a bold step to preach unity in Nigeria by addressing representatives of Nigerians from other parts of the country at Whitley Events Centre, Surulere on Wednesday, 15 February, 2023.
WES brought people from different ethnic groups under the same roof to ask for their support in the forthcoming elections. At the event, that witnessed a large turnout of the Arewas, the Igbos and people from the South South part of the country, leader after leader assured Rt Hon Eshilokun of the unflinching support of their tribesmen; promising to massively mobilise voters from their ethnic composition to vote for all candidates of APC from Asiwaju Bola Tinubu downwards.
The Arewa leader, Alhaji Katsina described WES as a sellable candidate based on his selfless and caring approach to governance; and assured him of their votes.
On his part, the Igbo leader, Hon Anosike, emphasized the need to vote Asiwaju as President of Nigeria so that Lagos’ request for a special status in the country will be achieved. He reasoned that so also will the inchoate status of the Lagos created Local Governments be ratified.
Without being left out, the Leader of the South South, Njadika promised that his tribesmen will deliver over one million votes for APC candidates in Lagos, stating that his people are aware of the sabotage by some interests to frustrate the election by creating
confusion with the policies introduced: naira swap and the lingering fuel scarcity.
In his response, WES expressed appreciation to all of them for coming in great numbers despite the short notice. He noted that people of other tribes in Lagos need to compensate Asiwaju and APC for giving them inclusion in Government.
Also at the engagement were Hon. Lanre Okunola and some APC leaders. WES Campaign Council members also came in numbers. Hon Gbenga Oyebode anchored the programme, while Hon. Hakeem Adeniji welcomed the guests to the event. Hon Rasheed Giwa introduced the candidate to the audience.
At the end of the programme, Rt. Hon. Eshilokun led the Council to pay homage to HRM Oba Lateef Atanda Adams, the Onikate of Ikate, who fervently prayed for his success and that of all APC candidates in Lagos.
While promising to massively mobilise his subjects to vote APC, he particularly admonished Hon Okunlola, who also accompanied WES to give back to the community when he becomes the Representative. He claimed that he has confidence that WES will do great. He also advised the Igbos to keep faith with and conscientiously support APC.
