All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain and football enthusiast, Ogboni Fouad Alade Oki’s aspiration to become the Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) received a major boost on Friday, 19 May, 2023 when he was cleared for the contest first by the Screening Committee and later by the Electoral Committee of the LSFA.
Fouad Oki went through the screening exercise conducted by the successfully and the Electoral Committee of the LSFA which met on Friday, 19 May, 2023 at the Association secretariat on Ogunlana Drive, Surulere ratified the report of the screening committee and cleared all aspirants to contest.
Oki will slug it out with incumbent acting Chairman, Tade Adegboyega Azeez for the position of substantive Chairman of the Association.
Secretary of the Electoral Committee of LSFA, Akeem Rabiu-Okikioposu stated after Friday’s meeting that venue and date of election will be communicated to the aspirants and other football stakeholders in due course.
Thegazellenews.com’s investigation revealed that the odds favoured Oki with many members and football stakeholders in the seeking for fresh breath of new ideas.
“The Tade Azeez group has been in the saddle for the past 12 years and we have nothing to show for it. It’s a shame that Lagos, the Centre of Excellence has no club in the Nigeria Professional Football League. It’s as bad as that,” a football stakeholder told this medium.
