The Apapa Local Government chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the suspension of the immediate past Chairman of the local government, Hon Elijah Owolabi Adele, accusing him of dragging the party to court, a situation the party described as disgraceful.
In a letter of suspension dated 26th July 2021, signed by the party Vice Chairman, Comrade Oye Olumide; Secretary, Adediwura and others stressed that it was shocked by the action taken by Hon Adele by taking the party to court.
According to the letter of suspension, “we are shocked by your recent behavior of taking the party, APC to court of which you vehemently kicked against earlier. The case of a party member, Mr Bamidele Avose comes to mind. Bearing this in mind and also the undertaking signed by your humble self as one of the chairmanship aspirants during the last primary election held on 29th day of May 2021 to abide by the party’s decision on the primary, we hereby suspend you from the party through this letter”.
The letter however quoted Article 21 of the party’s constitution to support the party’s action.
The party has been enmeshed in intra-party squabbles since the primary election when Hon Adele was denied the ticket of the party.
Hon Adele had been accused of anti-party activities prior to the election, which he denied.
He however dragged the party to court claiming he was unfairly treated and wants to reclaim his mandate.
He has been at loggerhead with the state party Chairman, Alhaji Tunde Balogun.
