There was a heavy downpour in Osogbo and its adjoining towns on Sunday, 29 August, 2021. It rained heavily for almost two hours and the rain was climaxed with a heavy thunder which shook all houses to their foundations.
However in Ikirun, headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State, the thunder wreaked more havoc.
The thunder struck two teenage orphan girls of the same mother dead and lying on their chests was a waist pouch called Igbanu in Yoruba land and inside the waist pouchs was money purported to have been stolen by the siblings.
The incident which occurred at At Ogo Oluwa community, Orisa Elejin in Ikirun drew large crowd to the area.
This medium learnt that a woman had complained of theft of her waist pouch containing money days before the incident occurred.
The Gazelle News.com learnt further that the woman had warned repeatedly that whoever stole her waist pouch containing her money should return it or face the dire consequence but her warning went unheeded.
Therefore when the girls were killed by the thunder and the waist pouch laid on their bodies, devotees of Sango, Yoruba god of thunder allegedly came and perform a cleansing ritual for the bodies and the community after which the family of the victims allegedly evacuated the corpses.
The two girls, in their teens, lost their mother few months ago. They were allegedly to be on their way to buy some provisions when thunder struck them and killed them instantly.
